SolNegre is a Doom/Death Metal band from Balearic Islands (Spain).

The band was formed in 2022 by Gebre and Rigel, bandmates since 1995 and founders and composers on the Doom Metal sextet Helevorn.  They are surrounded in the project by Tom (formerly drummer in the legendary doom band Golgotha) and Ûkh.

The musical inspiration is taken from the old school greats of Doom/Death metal from the ’90s, referring to well-known bands, but keeping a very personal approach.
All the lyrical content and the conceptual canvas come from personal experiences fighting trauma, anxiety and a highly functional depression.

'Anthems For The Grand Collapse' is a collection of deep reflections about aging, physical and mental decay, personal frustration for all the un-accomplished and a deep reflection on a hard life lived hand to hand along with an imposter syndrome.

The album also includes the first-hand account of lysergic and transcendental visions coming from episodes of deep existential crisis, personal failure and rejection.
The 40+ minutes heaviness, composed by 5 songs, verse on the deep wish to dissolve and to return to a source beyond the veils of time, where there is no pain, no rejection, and no suffering.

The 'Annihilation of the Self' EP is added to the album as a bonus.
This massive track, preceded by a dreamy and eerier Intro named “The Paradox” is an ode to the shadows where some find solace.
It delves into the psyche of those who, out of fear, desperation, or disillusionment, grow to prefer and finally to love the chains of absolute control to the uncertainties and ventures of self-determination.
We've all been there at some point, haven't we?

Through a portrayal of our own journey and those observed around us, this colossal 22’ song offers a somber reflection on the (already) miserable human condition, as well as the contradiction of desiring one’s own domination and finally wasting one's life, 'Annihilation of the Self' ventures into oppressive realms pushing our abilities as musicians into an unknown territory.

Knowing that going for a 22’ song is exactly the opposite that this sick instant gratification world demands, this is definitely something the band wanted to explore, paralleling the nuanced storytelling and massive length found in epic metal works that deeply influenced us like Edge of Sanity’s “Crimson”, Opeth’s “Black Rose Immortal”, MdB “The Return of the Beautiful” and “The Giant” from Swallow The Sun and last but not least of course “2112” from Rush, we similarly open ourselves to be the Intuitive receptors of transcendence and transcribe that energies into this massive and crushing creation, a dense and foreboding soundscape to explore the dark, sharp corners of self-determination and dependency.
